HYDERABAD: Tensions flared in the historic Resham Bazar on Tuesday as local traders accused municipal authorities of carrying out “retaliatory actions” under the guise of an anti-encroachment operation. While the municipal administration claims the drive aims to clear the city’s busiest commercial artery of illegal structures, the traders’ union has alleged that the operation is being used to target specific shopkeepers. “This is not an organized cleanup; it is a display of personal vendetta by certain officials,” a representative of the Resham Bazar Traders’ Association stated. The shopkeepers have demanded an impartial inquiry into the matter, calling for a transparent policy that applies to all without any discrimination.
