HYDERABAD: Concerns are growing among the residents of Hyderabad as gambling dens and the illegal sale of narcotics, including the banned chewable tobacco ‘Mainpuri’, continue to flourish across several localities.Local residents have reported a surge in criminal activities, alleging that these illegal hubs have become breeding grounds for harassment and ‘Gunda Gardi’ (thuggery). Despite the provincial ban on Mainpuri and Gutka, these hazardous substances are reportedly being sold openly in residential areas, posing a severe health risk to the youth.”Our neighborhoods are no longer safe. We face constant harassment from elements associated with these dens,” a resident of a local locality stated. The affected citizens have accused the local police of turning a blind eye to these activities, demanding immediate intervention from the SSP Hyderabad and DIG to dismantle these networks and ensure the safety of the public.
